Wow, I'm so glad I stumbled across this, I've always known I had a hereditary skin condition but I've never
been able to figure out what it's called. After reading the info on this site, I'm convinced that this is indeed what
I have. I do howeve seemr have a less severe form.
First of all i'm a 18yo male. For me the symptoms can be described as the pores on my legs and arms are clogged with a
bit of hard dead skin. A better description would be that my skin looks like it's coated with sesame seeds but slightly darker,
or poppy seeds but lighter. My clogged pores prevent hair from growing but I do have parts of my arm and legs where
i sweat and hair grows sparsely. Also if I pick out the "sesame/poppy" seeds, I can sometimes reveal a "stuck hair".
Overall I have dry and slightly flakey skin on my entire body, and I have had extremely scaly skin on my lower legs at times
when my ichthyosis is at it's worst. For as long as I can remember, the only semi-effective solution for me
has been soaking and scrubbing. This is very time consuming and I've had varying sucess depending on how
often I perform it. (once a month etc...) BTW my mom has the same condition.
So what do you guys think, I'm pretty sure this is what I have. I would however like confirmation that I do
indeed have a less severe type of this condition and I would like to find out the exact name of this the particluliar
type of ichthyosis that I seem to have.
Any opinons, suggestions, or comments will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your replies
